What is Helsinki Chemicals Forum?
Each year the HCF conference gathers speakers and participants from around the globe to Messukeskus Helsinki, Finland. The conference is engaging international authorities, politicians, industry leaders, NGOs, academics, the media and specialists interested in global chemical safety management. Since 2019, HCF organises with Chinese partners the Asian Helsinki Chemicals Forum which took place virtually in 2020 on 16 to 18 November as part of the CRAC-HCF 2020 Virtual Forum.
Why attend?
The Helsinki Chemicals Forum has successfully established its place as the leading forum for promoting chemical safety and analysing different problem areas over the years.
“It is great to continue working with chemical safety. In providing the coordination of the annual conference, I hope to benefit from my expertise and network from my years at ECHA and the European Commission. My aim is to develop the Helsinki Chemicals Forum into an even stronger and globally acknowledged chemical safety event. This is something I cannot do alone. I invite you all to bring your ideas together and spread the word about the key conference promoting chemicals safety and chemicals management globally!”
– Mr. Geert Dancet, Secretary General of Helsinki Chemicals Forum
Why HCF – Just ask our participants
“Helsinki Chemicals Forum offers a great opportunity to all professionals to exchange out of the box in high level presentations, as well as during the panels and outside the main hall with colleagues on fundamental questions of safe chemicals handling, not necessarily leading to immediate action or implementation but creating a better holistic understanding of chemicals management and its consequences.”
– Dr. Erika Kunz,
Global Product Stewardship, Head of Global Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals, Clariant, Germany

A multi-stakeholder think tank
“The Helsinki Chemicals Forum annually brings together new and old contacts to debate some of the thorniest issues in chemicals management. From regulatory efficacy to emerging scientific and technological issues to corporate social responsibility, its panel debates are significant multi-stakeholder think tanks providing businesses, regulators, NGOs and others with a space to think about the bigger picture and go home with a clearer understanding of how to position their organisations.” says Mamta Patel, CEO & Co-Founder of Chemical Watch on the aims and operations of the forum.
We were delighted to have Mamta moderating the panel discussion on 2018.

Why travel to congresses?
“I travel a lot – for a scientist, it’s the best way to keep abreast of the field. It allows us to develop new concepts based on personal chemistry, by meeting people face to face“, says Howy Jacobs, Professor in molecular biology. Watch Howy’s tips and read the full article.
